Frequently Asked Questions

Clear guidance regarding matriculation cycles, Harkness seminar prerequisites, residential allocations, and financial endowments.

Early Decision I dossiers must be formally submitted through the AIS Scholar Portal by November 1st. Regular Decision portfolios close on January 15th. International scholar applicants requiring Student F-1 visa certificates are urged to complete submissions prior to December 1st to ensure expedited SEVIS processing.

The Harkness method eliminates traditional passive lecture pedagogy in favor of an oval mahogany conference table accommodating 12 scholars and one presiding mentor. Scholars lead textual analysis, debate thesis validity, and critique primary historical artifacts, fostering the critical rhetoric and intellectual agility demanded by elite research universities.

Every enrolled scholar is sorted into one of four historic residential houses, supervised by senior faculty wardens. The system delivers comprehensive pastoral wellness, dedicated dining halls, collegiate society leagues, competitive rowing, and personal writing clinics available seven days a week.

Yes. The AIS Global Honors Fellowship permits qualified international students in grades 10–12 to participate virtually in select synchronous Harkness evening seminars, paired with one-on-one thesis advisement with Oxford and Boston faculty chairs.

Admissions decisions are evaluated 100% need-blind for all domestic candidates. Merit endowments are judged automatically during portfolio appraisal. Supplemental need-based institutional grants require submitting financial aid schedules via the Chancellor Clearinghouse by February 1st.

Transcripts generated outside the United States or United Kingdom must be submitted directly through certified evaluation authorities (such as WES or certified notary translations). Our registrar office converts national curricula directly into AIS Collegiate GPA and Honors credits.
